Full-time digital throws coaching for every athlete
Shot put, discus, javelin, and hammer - session coaching, technique diagnosis, pre-competition briefs, and more. Available to every athlete, anywhere, for free.
Good coaching shouldn't be a privilege
Whether you're in rural Queensland with no local club, a para athlete with no classification-specific coach, a self-coached competitor looking for an edge, or a beginner who just picked up a shot put for the first time - quality throws coaching should be available to you.
“I'm fortunate to train under a Paralympian coach at the AIS. Most athletes aren't. Project Throwha exists so that every thrower - regardless of where they live, what they can afford, or what their body looks like - has access to expert coaching. No athlete should have to figure this out alone.” - Lee O'Halloran, Australian & Oceania Record Holder, F46 Shot Put
Why is it free? Project Throwha is funded by sponsors who believe good coaching shouldn't depend on your postcode, your income, or your disability. Athletes never pay. Sponsors fund the coaching infrastructure in exchange for the opportunity to support athletes on their journey - and to be part of the story when they succeed.
Built accessible from day one
Every athlete deserves a coach. Project Throwha is designed to work with screen readers, voice-first devices, and assistive technology. Visually impaired athletes (F11-F13) can use audio-first coaching mode - just tell the coach at your first session.
Your coach. At the track. At 6am.
Everything a good throws coach does - available on your phone, whenever you need it.
Session Coaching
Log your session via text after training. The coach analyses what happened, reinforces what worked, and flags 1-2 things to fix. Your cue bank builds over time. Voice notes coming soon.
Technique Diagnosis
Describe what you feel in the throw and get a specific diagnosis - not generic advice. The coach traces faults back to their root cause and gives you one thing to fix.
Pre-Competition Brief
Competition morning: get a brief built from your actual cue bank. Your top 3 technical cues, a mindset note, and your warm-up. Personalised to you, not copy-pasted.
Video Analysis Guide
Exact camera angles, distances, and frame rates for each event. Know where to position your phone, then describe what you see for a detailed technique review.
Competition Warm-Up
A 12-15 minute warm-up built around your event and cues. No equipment needed. Four phases: raise temp, mobility, CNS activation, event-specific priming.
Gets Smarter Over Time
The more sessions you log, the better it knows you. A cue bank personalised to your body, your faults, and what actually works for you - not a generic athlete.
Strength & Conditioning
Throws-specific S&C programming - mobility, power development, injury prevention, and recovery protocols built around the demands of rotational throwing sports.
Drill Development & Analysis
Break the throw down into its building blocks. Isolate each phase with targeted drills, understand why each drill develops a specific component, and track your progress through the progression.
All four events. Ambulant and seated.
Full technical models, phase-by-phase breakdowns, common faults, and coaching cues. Able-bodied and para athletes fully supported.
Full para athlete support. All para classifications covered - F11-F13 (vision impairment), F20 (intellectual), F32-F38 (CP/coordination), F40-F46 (limb deficiency/short stature), F51-F57 (seated), and F61-F64 (prosthetic users). Ambulant and seated. Each classification has dedicated coaching notes built for how that body actually throws.

Introduce yourself
Tell the coach your event, your experience level, and your classification if you're a para athlete. It'll ask what it needs and start building your profile.
Log your first session
After training, type a quick summary of your session. The coach analyses it, extracts your cues, and starts building your personalised coaching profile. Voice notes coming soon.
Keep throwing
The more you log, the more personalised it gets. Log a session, get a technique fix, build your warm-up, get your comp brief. That's the loop.
Built for every thrower
Competitive athletes

Schools & clubs
No throws specialist on staff? project-throwha gives PE teachers and volunteer coaches a credible, event-specific technical reference they can actually use.
Made by a thrower, for throwers
Project Throwha was built by Lee O'Halloran - Australian & Oceania Record Holder in F46 Shot Put.
Lee spent years playing high level able-bodied rugby in both Australia and Canada before picking up a shot put for the first time in December 2024. Within 12 months, he'd broken both the Australian and Oceania Records.
The technical knowledge he's built, been taught, has and hasn't had access to is the foundation of this project. Project Throwha is built for every throws athlete - able-bodied and para - from first session to competitive level.
On the name: Three meanings in one word. In English, Throwha reads as Thrower. In te reo Māori - a nod to Lee's New Zealand Māori heritage - the wh carries an f sound, making it Throw-far. And hidden inside is O'Ha - the first syllable of his surname, O'Halloran - making the name literally part of who built it.
Coaching access. No surprises.
Athletes are always free. Coaches get access to athlete-permissioned data, session insights, and squad tools.
We won't rush this.
Throwha moves through stages when the funding is there to do it right — not on a marketing schedule. Here’s where we are and what unlocks each phase.
